The lost skillset of the minimalist era
Let’s be real, corporate minimalism was a 10-year creative flop. That sterile 2010s look didn’t just give us boring work, it raised a whole generation of designers who never really learned how to build.
It’s easy to hide behind a “clean” grid. The real sauce lives in the texture, the mess, and the stupid amount of hours spent drilling a shape into existence. Minimalists love to hide behind “usability” which, half the time, is just an excuse for having zero personality.
Sure, it’s fast. Sure, it’s functional. But real skill isn’t hitting align centre on a white box, it’s obsessing over form, craft, and detail until something actually feels alive.
Everyone tried to copy Apple, but the Sistine Chapel is still unmatched. If your design doesn’t have a soul, it’s forgettable. We’ve been trading actual talent for sterile tech vibes for way too long, and it’s time to stop ✌️
