The blend tool has ruined a generation of designers
Before Gen AI hijacked everyone’s feeds, designers used to obsess over Blend Tool effects — kinda tragic when you think about it. It quickly turned into a “how-to” platform where you could pretty much tell who a designer was based on what effect they’d just discovered. It warped the whole idea of what design’s about.
Fun fact though — the Blend Tool’s nearly 40 years old. And in all that time, only two OGs really pushed it beyond the obvious: @trochut and @patrickseymour. They taught me that it’s not about what tool you use, but why you’re using it. Effects mean nothing without intention. Stop doing it just ‘cause it looks cool — use it to say something.
This poster — “Made You Look” — was for a @pabstblueribbon label comp I worked on with @Liam. It’s a little tribute to the trend spiral and the attention economy. Basically, stripe porn 🖤
