Constructing letters with simple geometry
How can I adjust the letter design to fit the frame size? I had this empty frame that measured 50x70cm, and instead of sketching something with a pencil, I decided to divide the space into neat 4 by 4 rectangles. Within one of these rectangles, I placed the essence of the letter and turned the rest into a swoosh. By rounding the corners, the letter took on a distinctive shape.
If you’re unsure where to begin, start by playing with shapes. The beauty of this play is that it helps develop useful skills, such as neuromotor skills and sence of “observational” taste and with each new design, you’ll improve.
Try applying the same approach to the letter ‘B’ or any other letter in the alphabet, and you’ll discover that much of the alphabet can be created using this principle of letter construction.
If on my poster, many people see @ symbol instead of an ‘A’, well, that’s okay.
